*sighs*

I'm so sad to hear that they suddenly postphoned it. I just hope that they don't do something like that again... oh well... maybe they are just using cosplayers as model/promotional tools for a cheap bargain of online credits and freebies... real models will cost much much more kasi, that they just can let it go that instantly.

anyway.... I just hope that they kept the interested parties well informed (for the past few days) that there might be a good possibility that it might not actually materialized due to certain circumstances. It's kinda not nice to keep people's hopes up for something (for those that might be really hoping for those nice shiny freebies), or the cosplayers that might have been rushing to prepare their costumes for this event comission (I really feel most sorry for them).

You know.... Same thing happened to me. The day before I go to Greenhills, about 5:45pm last Friday, JM Chua phoned me, he told me it was cancelled. I was a bit suspicious at first because he doesn't sound very professional but I decided to believe him anyway. So what in the world happened anyway, WHY was it cancelled? And what now?

This is why businesses should directly engage customer evangelists over multiple channels, instead of treating them like a little clique one or two of their people cobble together.

polence - June 11, 2006 06:16 PM (GMT)
inis ako sa mga companies na tinuturing na mascot ang mga cosplayers... last minute announcements... at least yung iba nagbibigay ng cash prize na maayos to compensate for the short notice... pero in a sence nakakabatos pa rin. *sighs*

for the record... di lang ito ang narinig kong butas sa Level-Up for having cosplayers mascot in their promotional booths... I think there was this one incident back then na napromise silang bayaran yung cosplayers for modeling for the said booths that went around in different malls... in the long ran nabayaran rin pero not the amount they promised.

hopefully next time they do this... they better be sure that the event will push through before announcing it to the public. Another blow at your marketing strategies, and it's bad that it should directly effect your consumer evangelists. For the most part, I see the same cosplayers cosplay again and again during the LU cosplay inspired events... but loyalty might diminish if you don't treat your very fickle minded young customers right.

junichi - June 11, 2006 10:37 PM (GMT)
mascot!!!!
yay kumumpara banaman tayo kay jollibee

pero forgive and.....

not forget nalang....heheheheh.....

not forget the lessons na natutunan about this matter.... ^_^

Level Up's next cosplay event plugin must now overcome a crywolf effect. They'll need to come up with something more credible than two kids telling people to email them.

To those who wanted to participate, I do apologize for the last-minute changes. I was only informed by the Virramall organizers a day before the event that they won't need RO cosplayers anymore because they have given that opportunity instead to Ran Online. I have nothing against Ran Online, and no matter how much we protest against it, they did have the rights to do so.

I immediately informed the would be participants (save for one who didn't give her cellphone number; I called her through her landline but the one who answered the phone told me she doesn't stay in their house anymore), and I told them that they will still get the in-game items they were supposed to receive for joining even if the event didn't push through. I'm 100% sure ArcadeDoll can attest to this since she was one of the people I talked to through my cellphone. I'm aware that this cannot fully compensate for all the trouble that's been caused, but it's the least that we can do.

On the note regarding "using" cosplayers as mere tools: Don't you (Jerry & Mike) think it's a bit ironic how you, of all people, would be the ones to come to that conclusion? Sorry if that was a bit vague, but I'll leave you guys to figure that out ;)

What we want to do is reward these cosplayers for showing people their love for the game. Cosplaying isn't just a walk in the park. It's not like you just put on your costume and walk in and out of a convention: It takes a lot of guts and hard work to put on an attire that may seem funny or comical to everyday people. I know this because I used to cosplay myself.

Regarding the other cosplayers who haven't been "compensated" properly, I believe there is a very valid reason behind it (which I'm sure Jerry didn't take the time to research). We can talk about it during the Toycon so you can be very well informed, Jerry. At the same time, You, Mike & me can have a little chat and vent our frustrations at each other like civilized people instead of taking potshots at the other behind their backs. :)

Let's remember that there's always more than one side to a story and it wouldn't hurt to check them out before crying "foul". I just hope this particular side doesn't get deleted, as what's often the case in this board.

@ officer fujita

actually po naasar talaga ako sa nangyari...
I love to cosplay kahit na anong event pa yan basta kaya kong pumunta.
Excited nga lang ako sa LU event kasi first time ko na makapag-cosplay ng LU character...

Im looking forward din kasi sa 50m zennies para sa RO account ko na nag-kaka-alikabok na...It will be a great help...lalo na at walang nagtitinda ng zennies sa IRIS server...buti pa sa SARAH.... ^_^

so medyo na-disappoint ako....

That's Jerry's point, JM, not mine. I'm talking about engaging publics through multiple channels instead of cliques through information middlemen, to create viral information abundance instead of artificial information scarcity. Businesses show commitment through the former, and weasel out through the latter. And the latter is exactly what happened.

To your credit, publicly posting is far superior to telling people to email you. ;)
