Also, is the Knights Templar & Priory of Sion, one? I don't remember the movie mentioning the Rosicrucians either but they show the importance of the "rose" symbol.

Which are the true allies & which is the real enemy? I've learned so far that all groups (Knights Templar, Priory of Sion & Rosicrucians) are connected to each other except the Opus Dei. Is the Opus Dei evil? Although the movie showed members of the rose performing pagan rituals. Confusing...got to buy the novel XD

Still, I doubt it will affect our faith.

Eferlein - May 19, 2006 03:27 AM (GMT)
phew. R-18 yung film! buti nalang magaling ako umarte! hahahaha

anyway...
maraming kulang and maraming errors sa film.

all I can say is --- Mas maganda parin yung libro.

Zengar Zombolt - May 19, 2006 03:28 AM (GMT)

@wantan: napanood mo na yung movie di ba? so it wouldnt hurt to answer your questions below :)

***WARNING: SPOILER ALERT, read only if you've watched the movie and/or read the novel***

i only read the novel and i haven't watched the movie yet so most of my answers will solely rely on the book and the research i made for the book report thingy.

1. I'm still confused with the role of Opus Dei. They punish themselves in order to become saints but do they really murder to attain their goal?

i think that was just a desperate action since umabot sa point na na threaten yung church secret/s. in DVC's case, yung archbishop and the albino guy (4got thir names) lang naman ata yung applicable sa question.

2. Also, is the Knights Templar & Priory of Sion, one? I don't remember the movie mentioning the Rosicrucians either but they show the importance of the "rose" symbol.

so-so, i think KT and PoS are one, in terms of taking sides. different, bcoz PoS was born after the death of the KT.
yung rose symbol, it's sorta a symbol for the location of the sangreal documents. na mention sa novel na yung location "lies beneath the line of the rose" or something like that.

3. Which are the true allies & which is the real enemy?

4. I've learned so far that all groups (Knights Templar, Priory of Sion & Rosicrucians) are connected to each other except the Opus Dei. Is the Opus Dei evil? Although the movie showed members of the rose performing pagan rituals. Confusing...got to buy the novel XD

I dont think OD is evil. weird maybe, lolz. again, insecure lang sila dahil baka mareveal yung sangreal documents sa world at that time

***END SPOILER QUERY***

SPOILER ALERT!!! *READ ONLY IF YOU ALREADY READ THE BOOK & WATCHED THE MOVIE*

Fortunately, i've already read the book prior to its first release here in Manila... but i haven't seen the movie yet. You won't easily get confused pag nabasa mo na yung libro... the albino guy is Silas... he punishes himself for test of faith... and Opus Dei only kill it they think it might oppose God's will (that's what they believe in)... Silas is the one tasked to do the things that the church cannot do... that is, to kill... also, the Knights Templar & Priory are almost the same... coz they do also have the same goal... to protect Jesus' bloodline... that goes down to Sarah, which is Magdalene's "daughter to Jesus"... Opus Dei are both evil & "angelic"... evil in the way that they kill in order to hide facts or if they think na makakasama sa kanila or there's something threatening sa kanila... haven't you noticed that it's the Opus Dei here in the Phils. na pinipigilan ang pagpapalabas ng movie... while the church itself agreed just for fiction's sake??? parang ganon...

for all of you... i do also recommend that you first read the prequel before Da Vinci Code... that's the Angels & Demons... i truly loved the book... really amazing... much better than DVC... made me wonder if Majika's letters (channel 7) are created by a Mason...

The Da vinci Code was published first. After becoming an international best-seller, Dan Brown decided to make a prequel hence Angel and Demons. The events that occured in Angels and Demons were supposedly to have happened before DVC.

=CeRaVi_CeReS= - May 19, 2006 06:41 AM (GMT)

Accel - May 20, 2006 09:01 AM (GMT)
only read parts of the da vinci code but here's my opinion

@eferlein: its true na lack of information ang movie, but it cant be avoided since making the movie too long will make it dull so they just summarize the movie.

that's the reason why often times the novel is greater is because stories in a novel are too detailed.....too detailed to be made in a movie.

for me i think the movie is great, actually it is better to watch the movie first then read the book for a more detailed story and info. the movie helps the book more since you will now have your visualization of the novel through the seens in the movie.

and if you ask me about the "FAITH" topic, it doesnt really affect me since its just a novel even if some of the parts of the book are true, there is still no sufficient evidence to justify these things and also if these so called group desperately wants to protect these informations why show it in a movie and to all the people in the world lolz and do nothing desperate to stop it from airing in cinemas :lol:

Lance Malvien - May 21, 2006 03:25 PM (GMT)
SPOILER WARNING as in SPOILER 'TO. ONLY FOR THOSE NA NAKABASA NA NG BOOK.

Ung about sa Opus Dei, according sa book, they punish themselves through cilice. Dunno about dun s murder part. Kasi, it seems like Silas only resort to murder because he thought he was serving the will of God, through Opus Dei, but it turns out na si Leigh Teabing pala un.

Sa DVC, me mga lines about dun s prequel nia.

About dun s if Priory of Sion and Knights Templar is the same, hindi naman exactly.

@reiji-kun
I don't think na kalaban nila ang Opus Dei. Ang kalaban nila s story ay si Silas who thinks na he's doing the Opus Dei's bidding.

@ate cerav

Medyo scary ang Angels and Demons.

Waahhh! Cge, ask lng kau. Ginaganahan aq magkwento :D

Nga pala, if you want a great docu about DVC, mas recommended q ung s National Geographic kasi hindi cla baised. Ung s Da Vinci Deception na VCD na nabibili s NBS, sobrang biased. As in kulang na lng eh sabihin nila ng direkta na Da Vinci Code is evil

=CeRaVi_CeReS= - May 21, 2006 03:50 PM (GMT)
mas maganda pa rin ang A&D!!! hehehehe!!!

wantan - May 22, 2006 02:29 AM (GMT)

Lance Malvien - May 22, 2006 03:13 AM (GMT)
@ate cerav
Mas maaksyon kasi ung A&D.

@wantan
You really do need to read the book. Kasi mas complete ung mga info dun

menngay - May 22, 2006 03:37 AM (GMT)
mas magnda n basaahin mu n ung book before criticizing it.. I've read n... last two years pa...

but the book is only fictional, the reader is the one hu gives or making it real...

^___^

but what if it is real nga...

ano nman kung nagka affair c jesus christ with lady magdalene... that time nman eh human xa... and it is only normal to a person to feel that way to an another person... d b...

so whats the problem if ever that is true...

even saints do have children...

^____^

reiji-kun - May 22, 2006 09:44 AM (GMT)
@lance: i never said na may kalaban dun. see my first post. lumalabas lang na kalaban sila dahil yung story e nasa point of view ni langdon.

Lance Malvien - May 23, 2006 12:18 PM (GMT)
@reiji-kun
Gomen, nakalimutan q nga pala ung bit bout dun s POV ni langdon.

Waaahh! I still haven't watched the movie, kasi naman, they said that the cinemas demand an ID from underage looking people. ><:

reiji-kun - May 23, 2006 12:46 PM (GMT)
@lance: i think enough na yung novel na nabasa mo. i heard testimonies that you can understand the story better in the novel. i dun even know kung minention yung mga amazing facts dun like the divine proportion Phi, Baphomet and others.

ayaw mo nun, mukha kang underage pag hiningian ka ng ID? it's way better than being underage yet looking like a non-minor :lol: :lol: the time i encountered the same problem was when i tried sneaking into the r-18 kill bill vol.1, i was 17 back then :P

Lance Malvien - May 23, 2006 01:03 PM (GMT)
Hmm, from the accounts of my aunts who have watched the movie knina, hindi naman daw maciadong maganda.

Kasi nga naman, pahirapan naman ilagay s movie ung mga facts kasi through the thoughts of Robert Langdon un nari-reveal ung mga un. Eh kung ilalagay lahat un, aabutin pa cguro ng 5-7 hrs ung movie ><;

Ung isang PCer, nakanood ng DVC kahit underage. Mum daw nia pinabili nia ng ticket ><;

houseki - May 23, 2006 01:45 PM (GMT)
grabe i cnt believe it! i've been waiting for this movie for a long time and i can't even watch it coz i'm underage?!

but a friend of mine who is underage watched already...And she said that the movie wasn't that good...

So now I don't bother to pest my sisters to buy me a ticket...chka nbasa ko nrn nmn...I bliv that the actual books are greatr than the movies..

hitsugi - May 23, 2006 04:33 PM (GMT)
the movie is quite good.. i like the flashbacks when Lee was explaining about the history of the Holy Grail and the Great Conspiracy.. there were several alterations of course we cannot expect full details with movies of course.. but it was so short is what i can say.. and i expected the ending to be more dramatic for langdon.. im gonna give Ron Howard a kick in the butt for tht ending he deserves it..

as for wantan's opus dei Q.. Opus dei is like an order in the catholic church..meaning it is part of vatican.. there are several other sects like you know the dominicans, jesuits, so on and so forth..

i've been in a catholic school my whole life.. and even so the book or the movie doesn't strike me as a catholic.. i just dont understand why this religious heretic morons keeps making an argument on something they haven't even read or watched..

the point of the movie isn't to destroy our faith, the plot is about the war that has been going on for centuries between the church and its existence.. and what i meant by the church is the vatican and the whole institution not the real church which is us, the people who believe in christ.

Opus dei just wants to destroy what the priory of sion has (which is the holy grail) that can and will destroy the existence of the church. as we all know, the church ever since has been patriarchal. which means only men are allowed to be priests right? (they are the only ones bestowed with the religious power to preside mass, give penance, baptize and so on and so forth) but according to the story jesus married mary magdalene (whom he loved most before the apostles) and wanted her to take over when he died.. so the plot thickens.. and when jesus died he had an offspring from magdalene which was a girl so under the rule of blood, its just a big slap in the face

in a nutshell, its just an ego fight between the genders right? the never ending battle of the sexes tht involved the church and christ thts why its making tht much noise.. but those documents are yet to be proven genuine just like the scrolls of judas which another sect is arguing about. tht whithout judas we would not be saved and tht is the part judas is supposed to play so judas should not be condemned.. but judas did commit suidice.. so, so

bottomline, it was quite a good story.. interesting i daresay. provocative, but the movie not quite

for other movies similar i believe you did watch stigmata, the body and the order

@hitsugi
:D Very well said :P

@Raerae
Last month pa me pirated na DVD kaso ung iba sobra kung makapag-deceive ng tao. A friend of mine bought a copy and once she played it on her player, it turns out to be Passion Of The Christ ><;

I'm still not giving up on watching it on the big screen ><;

menngay - May 24, 2006 04:07 AM (GMT)
@all

lam nyo b sa Rome, Italy

the da vinci code was rated PG 13 and it was never banned there in any movie houses...

tpos D2 R18..

dapaakkk ang MTRCB..

ang bobo..

Lance Malvien - May 24, 2006 04:26 AM (GMT)
Akala kasi ng MTRCB ang kikitid ng utak ng mga kabataan ngaun, not knowing na mas makikitid pa ang mga utak nila ><;

Kung titingnan nga nila eh, most ng mga readers ng DVC ranges from 13-16 ><;

Uruhara - May 24, 2006 06:37 AM (GMT)

@uruhara: and which scene would tht be?

@rae: dont worry dvds will be out soon.. media boards and producers have been particularly careful on this film (i dont know what the difference it has with any other movie) even the preview for the movie wasn't hacked or stolen ( i wonder how they did tht) but they will be out pretty soon i assure you give it like 2 weeks :P

@lance: i know exactly what you mean, there are pirated dvds out but not the movie with tom hanks in it but the label says otherwise.. i heard they were documantaries from tv.. national geographic and another tv show.. well, i'd like to see those documentaries as well ^^;
and you were saying DVC readers range from 13-16? whoa.. i guess there is a so called development.. thts a good thing. i thought tht age range reads harry potter alone

egghead - May 25, 2006 04:13 AM (GMT)
i've partially read the book and ye the book is better.

when i watched the movie, i can't stop thinking that it is similar to national treasure (nick cage, sean "moronic boromir" bean) because of all the mystery solving. the cast of actors and actresses are a great one... xcept jean reno and paul bettany are the only ones worth mentioning because of their great portayal on their characters. still, it's a good film ^_^ since i like national treasure anyway :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
