some fast facts/trivias:

*The first Rockman game was released on December 17th, 1987. It was on this day that Rockman hit the shelves of Japan, bringing to life the characters that we Rockman fans still enjoy all the way to this very day. =)

*Rockman could have been named Rainbowman instead!? During the designing of Rockman, the character designers were having trouble giving our hero a name. One of the top ranked names by the designers was Rainbowman since he was able to change into the all the colors of the rainbow. Luckily for Capcom -- and us -- the designers finally dropped the name and gave our mechanical hero the name Rockman. Imagine what kind of sissy name Rainbowman would have been. (It brings me into a cold sweat just thinking about it.)

In addition to Accel's historical fact, Capcom gave the name Rockman because of "Rock n' Roll" which is a big hit back then & would make the game sound cooler than just an ordinary kid's game. Now you know how Roll got her name as well :) Capcom US later renamed it to Megaman to make the character look better.

My favorite Rockman game so far is the Rockman Dash series which is also known as Megaman Legends

*Iceman has a crush on Roll?! It was revealed in one of the ending scenes of Battle & Chase. When you beat the game with Iceman, you will see his ending with him finally going to Antarctica for the summer. While he is there, he makes a gigantic snow sculpture resembling him and Roll, happily holding hands.


*Rockman and Forte is the first Rockman game that has its title written with "Rockman" in Japanese? In all the former games, the title had "Rockman" written in English, decorated with a nifty triangle in the background followed by a English or Japanese written sub-title. But starting from with this game, instead of the English letters, Capcom used the Katakana writing symbols on Rockman and Forte. A reason for the sudden change? Your guess is as good as mine...

*Of all the current androids, only two were NOT designed by residents of Japan.

These androids are Windman and Knightman, who were submitted in the Rockman 6 "Make your own android contest", which was the only Rockman "Make your own android contest" that allowed designs from the United States. The US winners are Daniel Vallie, for Knightman, and Michael Leader, for Windman.

*Quickman and Turboman are best friends. As the story from Battle & Chase states, for the sake of Turbman, Quickman entered the Battle & Chase races because Turboman was too sick/injured to compete himself. This is how we have Quickman as one of the usable characters in the game. (How a robot gets sick is beyond me...)

rockman 4 or megaman 4, maganda yun, dun kase ni-reveal ang tunay na origin ni megaman/rockman, then yung first game na may secret items, namely; baloon and wire..And of course first game ng megaman na inintroduce ang rock buster or mega buster...

Yung rockman 1 naman ang classic, mahirap talaga yun sa mga beginners, wlang password, walang slide pero may cheat, kung alam mo yung SELECT cheat sa NES/FAMICOM.

speaking of classics, here's some additional history about this game

When Rockman first came onto the scene on December 17th, 1987, his sprite make-up was way ahead of its time. Being far more detailed then other sprites, Rockman was praised highly in the video game world. Because of this, his sprites made EXTREMELY few changes during his entire existence on the Family Computer

When Rockman first appeared into the Gameboy in Rockman World (1991), Rockman's sprites changed to monochrome. Amazingly enough, they suffered no reduction in size. Of course, there was a price to pay for this. The result: the playing screen shrank amazingly, making it much harder for players to maneuver.

In Rockman 5 (1992), Rockman made its first and only sprite modification on the Family Computer. The change you ask? They added vent lines in the back of his helmet. To make this change even stupider is the fact that the vents can only be seen when players made Rockman climb ladders. Why bother when no one will notice?

After seven years of 8 and 4-bit graphics, it was time for Rockman to come into the realm of 16-bit graphics. It was done first on the Super Family Computer in Rockman's Soccer (1994). Because this wasn't a conventional Rockman game, the sprites weren't conventional either. Although they looked far superior in comparison to the original sprites, they were still fairly poor in comparison to sprites of other 16-bit games.

In the anthology game Rockman MegaWorld (1994), which was released 7 months after Rockman's Soccer, new 16-bit sprites appeared. Due to the fact that the game was on Mega Drive (which had less colors to the Super Family Computer), and the fact that Rockman's Soccer's sprites were unconventional, a completely new set of sprites were needed. These sprites were fairly impressive, maintaining many of the great aspects of the 8-bit sprite and still giving the amazing 16-bit colors. The only complaint one may have is how proportions were irregular in comparison to some of the other character sprites in the game.

On the continuation of the original Rockman series on 16-bit, Rockman once again was given a new set of sprites. Because the sprites from Rockman 7 (1995) were much larger than all previous sprites, the game played a bit like the games from the Rockman World series. But in compensation, these sprites are very detailed. They looked far better than sprites from both Rockman's Soccer or from Rockman MegaWorld.

On Rockman's break into the arcade scene, via Rockman: The Power Battle (1995), Rockman pretty much kept its appearance from Rockman 7. But because the game was on an Arcade monitor, the sprites had modifications so that they would appear better. This would include stretching and a heavier color contrast. These changes made the sprites look great on the arcade, but as you may see in the example, it doesn't work that well if the graphics were ported to conventional monitors

In Rockman's second Arcade game, Rockman 2: The Power Fighters (1996), Capcom once again tweaked the Rockman Sprites from Rockman 7. Including the higher color contrast and widen stretching Capcom did for Rockman: The Power Battle, Capcom decided to give Rockman a little height. The addition was made by lengthening Rockman's thigh.

As one would expect, on his appearance onto 32-bit world of the Playstation and Saturn in Rockman 8 (1996/1997), Rockman got new sprites. Instead of being modeled after the first and second drawing styles of Rockman, the sprites were given the height and detail from the third Rockman drawing style.

On an odd backtrack back to the 16-bit system, Rockman returns to the Super Family Computer in Rockman and Forte (1998). But instead of returning to Rockman 7's sprites, Capcom surprisingly reused the sprites from Rockman 8. Due to the limitations of the 16-bit system, the sprites appeared larger and had color reductions. None the less, the appearance of this level of graphics was amazing.

Similar to how Rockman returned to the Super Family Computer, he reappears into the arcade scene in style. In Marvel vs. Capcom (1998), Rockman is given what are by far, his best sprite compositions. Just like with Rockman 8, the style was modeled after the third Rockman drawing method. Not only did the sprites make good use of the arcade's capabilities, the large sprites needed for fighting games allowed for greater details. But as with the sprites from the Power Battle and Power fighters, due to the fact this was an arcade game, the sprite shows streching when ported into non-arcade monitors.
