Title: Cosplayer + Photographer = Cosplay Photographer?
Description: talk about cosplay photography here.

I just wanted to ask how many cosplayers/photographer is there here? Are you mostly a photographer or a cosplayer? what type of camera do you use? how do you take photos? Do you do private photoshoots? etc... tips and tricks?
do you mostly prefer the use of digital camera or manual cameras + scanner?

madalas lagi dito sa mga conventions na maraming mga photographer and cosplay photographers (cosplayer and photographer all at the same), dyan ba sa pinas? maraming bang mga ganon?.
ako, personally, i just made the transition from just being a cosplayer to a photographer na.
I use a kodak 3.0 megapixels camera as well as a 5.0 (both kodak). Saving up for a Kodak or Canon 8.0 pixels camera.
personally, i prefer both film and digital. Pero, mas mabilis at madali ang digital para sakin so I can see directly how the picture came out. Mag prapractice parin ako with the use of the manual cameras. Ang maganda lang para sakin yung Digital kasi sa mga features that it offers.

As a cosplay journalist, I do both. I cosplay , I take pics and i did run an artist
alley. But yeah, I think that cosplay photography is one of my biggest interests! I love it. I love seeing people in costume and collecting their pictures and sharing it to them. Anyway, I would be interviewing Kevin Lillard and Eurobeatking soon you should watch for it

hmm....I wondered whatever happened to Kevin Lillard, last i heard he got a heart attack or something sa con. It'd be interesting to read the interview you have with EBK. And you should also interview Robert aka PikminLink's dad XD awesome photographer.

Para sa mga cosplay photographer. Do you guys prefer to use digital cameras or manual film cameras?
personally, gusto ko sana gumamit ule ng film pero i run through film pretty easily nga and I had a bad experience with the desposable ones (though that really shouldnt stop me from going back and using older film cams) so ngayon, i use a digital camera. It stores more and its alot easier to manipulate images on the computer.

at saka, what kind of camera do you use? paiba-iba ang gamit ko eh.

i started to use digital cameras at first so...
the pros are yes fast uploads no hassles on films
downside is when the area is dark or low light...

im saving money to buy an SLR this summer...

camera i use.. its an 3.0 MP type camera hehe
about the MP issue.. depende... if your looking for great details (example want to take a pic of the costume)... good ang camera na may mataas na MP rating.. but for taking snaps and stuff its good to have low MP as long as clear ang pics... ok n un.. and depende pa ren sa budget ng money mo..

it still lies on the owner.. how he/she utilizes his/her environment to his/her advantage...

a good 4 MP camera should be good enough to get you buy for some really decent shots. It also depends on which brand of the camera you use. As I've read somewhere na meron talagang magandang 4 MP na camera that could possibly even pass for a 5-6 MP camera. But if you resize the image to compare it to a 8MP or 6 MP you can still see the clear differences I guess.

Pero, if you dont really do alot of computer graphics with the photos, you dont necessarily need a very high MP camera.

And there should be some features in your camera as to how you can adjust it to the enviroment of the low lights and darkened areas. pero, i'm not technically sure which camera offers that. Yung camera ko, offers several options to utilize its use better. But I find that people tend to rely on those features more. Its good to use it to their advantage pero, I like it better when the photographer themselves just go with what they have in hand.

Hassle rin nga mag dala ng film camera kasi your pretty much limited in the number of photos you can take. I normally dont use film cameras unless the person specificly asked for prints instead of sending it to them via internet. And its usually only for studio shots kasi mabigat yung isang camera ko

@wantan - nice pic :lol:

I use a Nikon d200 with an 18-200 lens.
For pics of cosplayers in scenery, the telephoto creates a nice blurring effect to the background.

im prefer digicams..having high resolution makes the picture more real..lolx

My partner and I are cosplay media people, hence our title, "cute cosplay media couple." We cosplay. I handle most of the workmanship. He has sewing skills, but doesn't really use them 'cause most of his costumes are suits (Lupin III, Spike, Wolfwood, etc). He does all the videotaping, but both of us are involved in the post production. I take most of the photos, but both of us are involved in the copy / report writing.

In summary, that's us, Traveling Valentine.

Sa mga con madalas photographer lang me. My recent camera is a 3.1 canon power shot ba yun? Medyo malabo eh kaya recently i upgraded to a Nikon 6.X? something na Digital SLR. Grabe sa linaw! Masakit nga lang sa bulsa  This time at the toycon photographer parin meh in cosplay ng lang, hehe la lang trip b, d nga lng ako sasali sa event. :D

RageAn - June 16, 2007 10:25 AM (GMT)
me, i'm a photographer... just got back from toy con i had to leave early i have an 8'oclock shift. i'm using digital photo 3.5 canon a400 somthing not much and if battieries ran out i switch with my n73 3.2 megapixel. :D unfortunately if i'll be using an SLR.... i wouldnt have the patience for it although i am into it.... photography is my favorate subject in college.. its just that i need to adjust the lencess (i have the feeling i spelled this wrong) and it takes time to do the focusing and most cosplayers don't stay put for a photoshot for atleast 3mins.

*manero_ecchi* "i started to use digital cameras at first so...

actually you can do something about that.... when the area is to dark or low light if your using an SLR set your lences (again i know this is spelled wrong) wider and your shutter speed lower.. (just try to make ur hand stand still coz with this setting it is prone to camera shake shots. menaing it will come out blurred if you a shaky hand taking the pic) if you dont know how to do that just set your camera into night mode. it will adjust the lence and the shutter for the dark or low light setting.

for those who will buy SLRs.. try to buy the one where you can shift into automatic and manuals coz there are some styles in photography that can only be done manualy and cant be done with an automatic. B)

see yah around....

but i'm planning to cosplay in the NAna day cosplay and for the world cyber games in july but i wont be joing the contest since the cosplay i have in mind wont quailify.. (i'm excited about it coz i havent seen someone in it and i think.... i just think i will be the first one to do.... hehehe.. even though i'm tooooo fat for it) LOL
