QUESTION DIN!!!

Pwede po ba mag-cosplay ng sariling character?...
As in gawa-gawa ko lang....
Ok lang ba yun?

I do hope there would be conventions who would allow cosplayers to portray their own character.

But does that mean that it can also be called fashion shows?

g3tan - November 14, 2005 09:39 AM (GMT)
ang inaalala ko lang kasi un bang parang... "duh? sino ka? " kasi hindi naman nila kilala ung character mo di ba? Parang nakakhiya naman ata yun... :(

Atska oo nga parang magiging fashion show na un pagka-ganun!

not exactly on topic but its a question nonetheless ^_^

to pinoy cosplayers: question po! magtatanong po ako if any of you use your real hair or get wigs for cosplaying? And where do you usually get them?.

curious ako and its also to know if there are cheaper wig shops sa pinas since $$$ to peso currency is cheaper so I rather import my cosplay neccesities from the pinas to here

I believe some cosplayers use their own hair (dyeing them, styling) to get the form they want. Some of them who can not afford having their hair destroyed and dyed are resorting to wigs.

The wigs here ranges from 800-3k dependsing on the length and the quality. IMO, if you are buying wigs from the Philippines, it's better to buy it here personally not shipping it. Shipping might make the it expensive with all the fees you need to pay.

well, I can deal with the shipping charges since its almost as much as shipping them from China to US.

The only problem is not having someone there to purchase them for me. I have lost contact with my cousin but it'd be really nice if someone volunteered na bumili para sakin ^_^ padala nalang ako pera at pera for running to the store and getting it :P

kasi, i doubt my hair can suffer anymore damage from the years of abuse its gone through constant dying and its also too short to do any girl cosplaying

how to be pale - or something close to it

lets face it all, alot of us pinoy cosplayers are not pale or not as pale as we want to be for the character we want to cosplay as. Learn how to create the illusion that you are paler than usual and how for those more lighter skinned ones, how to stay pale and coping with the heat.

lets face it, this is the philippines where its usually humid and hot. Especially sa Manila. here some some suggestions in trying to keep pale for lighter skinned ones:

How to stay pale for lighter skinned

-wear fishnets instead of long sleeves. There is no need to tortue yourself!
fishnets are breezy and comfortable and constantly moving your arms/legs (wherever the nets may be) actually helps prevent UV sun rays to penetrate it.
also, be sure to wear sun block underneath, it helps.

-stay indoors XD

-white shirts are cooler than the darker colored ones

-keeping indoors while having the blinds closed helps prevent the sun from coming in but you need to go outside once in a while right?
so wear sun block (usually they dont really keep you pale but it helps protect the skin from harmful UV rays) wear a hat, umbrella/parasol whatever.

Paling make up

-usually if your going for Orochimaru/geisha pale you can purchase white stage make up. Their pasty and gives you a full white ghost effect.
If you cant find these in the philippines, I am more than willing to lend a hand. Send me an email/PM asking how to get them and I can mail you some.

-baby powder with a little mix of water will create a pasty effect. Be careful because these may crack after a while so be watchfull for air bubbles and I suggest carrying a bottle of it with an applicator brush or sponge. Sponges work better since they go on evenly.

'natural looking pale'

-as hard of a term that may seem to understand, sorry, wala akong maisip.
this tech. will usually help give you a lighter skin tone (3-5 shades) lighter than your normal skin tone.

what you need:

-the lightest liquid foundation you can find. L'oriel has created this new foundation called 'true match' it comes in all types of shades. FInd the lightest you could find.
-sponge applicator (the triangle looking ones XD)
-mirror (duh)
-white baby powder
-loose foundation

all these you could easily find in any store.

What to do now?:
clean your face with a cleanser para mawala lahat yung mga oil and dirt that could clog the pours and create acne. (this techq. also helps conceal acne ^_~)
apply the liquid foundation to your face and neck as well as to any exposed areas of your body.
ie: hands, ears, neck para mas natural look. Usually if you stop at the line of your chin and neck it ruins the make up and makes you look weird.

once you have applied the foundation and made sure there are no air bubbles, apply the baby powder. Giving it alittle hint of water works but usually you dont need baby powder.

If you are happy with the look the liquid foundation gave you, you dont need to use the baby powder. Sometimes applying alittle water may make the baby powder alittle more cakey and could actually make you look almost like a ghost. So I suggest experimenting before bringing this to a con.

to seal the make up, apply loose powder/foundation.

Note!!!:
to anyone who uses sun block, never never never mix sun blocks together!
ie: mixing SPF 15 with SPF 10 to get SPF 30 will not work and will only cancel each other out. So find the highest SPF warning/blockage a sun block can offer.

umm... sa Pinas... as far as I have tired... Apply a thick layer of Mena Cream on your face.... paunti unti lang ang lagay... di po face mask yan^_^;;;... tapos pagmakpal na, maputla ka na, para di oily tignan, put powder^_^

How much would a pair of colored contacts cost?

How much would a pair of colored contacts cost?

generally, depending where you buy them and usually you would need perscriptions to buy them.

cosplay lab offers colored contacts and special effect contacts (sharingans and other types of contacts) for $140+ while the colored contacts are usually $30-36 not including shipping. And they dont ask for perscriptions.

you should try asking eye doctors around your area. I know before I left the philippines several eye doctors sold some of the special effect contacts as well as colored ones. Not exactly sure about the prices and if they asked for perscriptions. Before you get a perscription you need the eye exam and stuff. So parang mahal ata but i'm not sure. Some may not even ask for perscriptions if your getting them without the perscriptions

Philippine optical shops are an exception; they sell contacts without requiring prescriptions. B)

Divisoria.... Tabora St... sa loob, yung palenke na puro tela, just ask around kung sino may leatherette. Black and brown is common, pero red is hard to find.

for the red leatherette... I suggest you visit the many upholstery shops along Ylaya St..... use soft leatherette......costs around 120-150.^_^
