Some personal sites use online payment gateways to solicit donations. I blogged a whole load of payment gateways here. In addition to that, one company I'm involved with uses the free service AlertPay.

Aside from general payment gateways, there are many services that specialize in letting users accept donations online, and many tutorials that show you how. Just Google 'em. ;)
