Title: Retirements, Switches
Description: changing? quitting? sticking? TALK~! :3
fu-fu - January 3, 2006 07:45 PM (GMT)
Hm, ok, since i'm dumb and couldn't find anything related to this topic then i shall just be brave enough to start one :3
Retirements, hm...i don't really expect anyone to be in the same suit after a few years ^^; (maybe winning *ehm* winning every cosplay all the same everytime? *ehm ehm* *gets shot*)
me? i'm quitting altogether. maybe cosplaying just ain't my thing? (or maybe i have been fighting with someone enough already, about cosplaying and stuff...it sucks.)
no more pocky.
but i'm still going to cons~~~~~ the bands are too hard to let go i guess.
>3
anyway, just chatter away~

I'm retired myself. I had it with cosplay issues & arguments so I quit. It's a shallow thing but almost everybody includes cosplay as a part of life. For me it's not a big deal, I'm only doing it for fun. Plus making costumes is very expensive so I guess I really have to stop. Now, I only spend for my group's parties & gimmicks. I guess this is much better than living in a world of fantasy.

I try to avoid arguements over cosplays and stuff but its something we cant ignore forever since we will have some 'rivals' that will show up sooner or later but I tend to ignore and shrug it off as I expect cosplay to be apart of my life for the long run since I am currently trying to apply to a fashion school to pursue costume designing and its my dream someday to open a cosplay shop. An actual cosplay shop so I dont see myself retiring some cosplay soon. And if I do stop wearing the costumes myself (since I know there will come atime when I will age and stuff :P but I dont anticipate that to be soon) I will continue to make them nonetheless. Who knows, maybe an injury will come along the way and stop me from cosplaying but until that day. I try my best to try and work hard on cosplaying as it has impacted my life greatly.
no matter the cost for the materials or the cost for traveling to cons. I know I wont stop for awhile. kasi, parang obsessive compulsive ako

I've had issues with others the past 2 yrs.. it was such a petty thing.. I've been quiet about it coz i was just there for fun and what have I done? none. Because of that, I considered retiring too... however.. as fate would have it.. I became a member of a cosplaying/singing group... so I guess my plan for retirement was put on hold... ^_^

pero i salute u
* fufu (especially u, wag mo ako i flaflame ha, nyahahaha, joke lng)

Me...complicated :P
When its gone, its gone. If I dont have the feeling, wag na. Being an adult I have to face the fact that I have much more important priorties aside from dressing up. For me =_= I'm not getting any younger, katumbas ng costume kadalasan pwede mo maipon pa sa magagamit ko in the long run. Outlet ko nalang ito sa realidad kumbaga, like others said, for fun and by definition of fun dapat hindi masyado seryosohin >_> so I try to be creative here: If I feel like doing a character, pwede ko magamit ung outfit sa real life XD Pero more or less ulit ulit nalng...got priorities and stuff ~_~
And about the issues, isa pa yan. Kaya dapat hindi talaga sineseryoso ibang bagay sa cosplay -_- Cosplaying is supposed to be for fun, be like your character for a day (or two XP) and feel good about it. Its not about bickerings, rivalries and all that bullcrap. I guess thats another reason why I also feel like quitting as well.

i never intended the negativity, sorry ^^U everything's just about the love of cosplay around here. just thought, how about a change of mood...nah, just maybe for those who have things other than, yeah, for the love of cosplay. :3
well, about "issues", i don't have any issues about other cosplayers, if that's what you mean. or audiences. i don't give a damn about what people say or whatever, especially if it's about the suit. cos yeah, cosplaying is something i did for fun too, just that. get out, go chill, right? but my problem about cosplaying is something more personal i guess. (yeah, right.)
i don't really think cosplaying is a fantasy either. it's just...fun. just that it requires guts and brains i guess, and effort. and guts. did i meantion guts? *lol* makes it all the more fun, i reckon. can't really blame those who quit though, we all have our reasons. can't blame those who make cosplaying their lives either. cosplaying is a different thing altogether for all of us i guess.
i actually think pinoy cosplaying is something to be proud of. i'm just, wowed. way to go guys. :3 (pag pinoy...nasa puso. hahaha. love you guys.)
hehehe...bat naman kita ifflame mik... peaceful forum-er lang ako! :3 (at good luck nga pala sa pagbbuild ng 0 experience mo.)
have fun~

its always a sad thing to hear about petty arguements that ruins a cosplayers life. About rivalries, totoo that your rival should be yourself but there are times when you know, there will be someone will just go up to you and demand that they are your rival. meron talaga noon kasi I've seen it happen and I've seen the whole thing about, "thats my character, stop cosplaying as her/him" its...pathetic when I see that. Some people just get too attached to a certain character talaga...

no sweat mik. *nudges* you can hold off the "po" muna, parang sumasama ata ang pakiramdam ko dun *haha*
no sweat. glad to be sharing my head i guess. let's just be open and everything will be fine. maybe we could even ditch seniorities, profiling and elitism (they lurk around, i know :3) and stuff, if so...

we don't have the exclusive rights to any of the characters we are cosplaying.. so for those people who think of you as "rivals" or are making a big fuss (issues, backstabbing, etc) over your costume just because you two are the same.. shame on them. ;)
i salute others who didn't mind and didn't lose their interest because of those issues.. juz keep in mind that time will come when you can never pursue this interest/hobby anymore coz as we get older, priorities may change, so as long as you have the time.. do it! and just enjoy.. ^_^
