Title: Suggestions
Description: Post 'em all here!!!
wantan - November 2, 2005 02:41 AM (GMT)

Suggestion ko lang baguhin yung banner kasi malaswa tingnan. Hindi naman lahat ng cosplayers ganyan di ba? Plus hindi attractive yung colors pati font niya. Yun lang po.

Thanks for the feedback, Chloebs! Pinoy Cosplay takes the same development approach as
Google: the
perpetual beta. We're already working on the next version of the banner. :)

Can we provide our own banner as well? My sister & I would like to help you make this forum alive!

Feel free to suggest banners, buttons, group icons, avatars, smileys, skins, mods, and other customizations to spruce up PinoyCosplay! We can even rotate banners from various artists for variety. Forums are all about user-created content. :)
For maximum fun, we can even post seasonal banners like Google's.

PinoyCosplay.com runs on
Invision Power Board v1.3 Final. Popular and heavily supported, the software offers many customization options. For resources on how to customize various aspects of the interface, click
here. If you'd like some mascot lineart,
Karlonne's done fantastic work on
Gabriela and
Mamaki.
Just keep in mind that with our current hosting, we cannot support server-side modifications. ;)

Cool! I'll send you some links for icons/smileys you can use!

Great! Keep in mind that PinoyCosplay.com's open browsing and
search engine optimization give you a wide-open audience.
All forum customizations must be either completely original, properly licensed, or public domain. :)

Great, Chloebs! We look forward to your contributions.
Mamaki's pose in our
current banner reflects PinoyCosplay.com's system: open and inviting. :)
By the way, may I repost your new
cosplay wallpaper over at the
gallery? It's kewl. B) Put a dial on the base and it's a
HeroClix. ;)

Thanks, Jag! Your suggestion is noted. White is
Invision's default background -- but we don't necessarily have to stick to defaults. ;)
In fact, you can test alternate color schemes with
this handy tool. :)
wantan - November 7, 2005 12:58 AM (GMT)

Maganda nga white & blue e! malinis tingnan. Kasi kung black nanaman parang FC atmosphere...gloomy! Yung banner lang talaga yung dapat palitan. :P
@mike: Lolz! Sige post mo yung wallpaper ko...kaw bahala hahaha! Wala kasi akong magawa sa buhay nung ginawa ko yun.
Zengar Zombolt - November 7, 2005 04:00 AM (GMT)
suggest ko lang :D hakot kau ng iba pang cosplayers :-p wakokokokok
Chibi-kun - November 8, 2005 10:43 PM (GMT)
there really should be a general chatts place as well as a place for new members to introduce themselves.

Welcome to Pinoy Cosplay, Christine! Like
Google, this service takes a
perpetual beta development approach. New categories will appear as more users need them, and appropriate topics will move into those categories. Right now, noncosplay chat and member introductions can be posted at
Cosplay Miscellaneous. :)

Gabriela was actually supposed to come in last week. She looked a little pale, so I spent some quality time with her last night. ;)

Accel - November 10, 2005 03:50 AM (GMT)
@mike: ummm dumami hinaharap nga, it would be better kung male and female nga lyk wantan said.

hi, just new here.. *ima skip the formalities etc..*
hmm.. since the forum is a registered .com domain, how bout making it look more like a website, of course this forum would be in it.. a lot of new ones we see nowadays are made using php/forum driven etc.. a nice splash page and index would be refreshing.. something not too grand, pede na un simple design tulad ng sa animesource.com of course they long since evolved from an info/event/review site into a sharing source and dload resource from being just a board.. and modified some code to make it feel more like a webbie that is more than just a board. a work with direction
i think na dapat may iba, as to what chidori was reffering to, that seems to be the case not just the looks but the content.. of course no 2 content are exactly the same but id assume u get my drift..
pra naman hinde mag mukang clone ng isang partcular forum na established na.. tho promotion of rivalry has its benefits, sana naman driven by passion eto at hinde kung ano... anyways, goodluck to pinoycosplay.com!! hope to see lotsa stuff here soon.. hehe its like the wwe, pag nagkataon.. well have the smackdown and raw factions :ph43r:

Good ideas, tabz! As the community continues to grow, we may want to diversify our suite of services in the future. :)
To be honest, I've long had my eye on Invision's
integrated blogging platform, but that would have to wait for software and hosting upgrades. Same with
RSS. ;)
wantan - November 10, 2005 07:32 AM (GMT)

Hmmm...maybe Jen & I can make a homepage for this forum so it would look professional & not just an ordinary messageboard. But we will use our own original characters for that.

Current hosting doesn't support custom homepages, Chloebs. Don't worry; soon as we can invest more moolah into the service, we'll upgrade hosting.
Then, we look forward to hosting your page designs. ;)

hello! ^_^
i'm just new here and just got out of my lurker mode XP
anyway...what's the difference with Pinoycosplay and Filcosplay?
both has the same bbs running its backend, both has the same sections and topics (and some are carbon copies)
the only difference that i could see are the template, the banner and the technical mumbo jumbo...
what's so different about this place?

| QUOTE (steel_angel @ Nov 10 2005, 11:06 PM) |
| what's so different about this place? |
Yeah, I know it sounds like technical mumb-jumbo. What does this all do for Filipino cosplayers, anyway?
Here are the two most evident benefits:
Top-level domain mappingYou can tell friends to go to PinoyCosplay.com without having them remember some long, cryptic address with subdirectories and subdomains just to
stay logged in.
That's less mumbo-jumbo for new users to remember. "PinoyCosplay.com" is easier to use and remember than "
s7.invisionfree.com/**********", or an often-down "
**********.tk" domain that requires you to login every few minutes.
It also means less frustration for new users who aren't "in the know" on some long, cryptic address with subdirectories and subdomains -- and thus, lower barriers to potential members.
Open read-only accessPeople freely browse PinoyCosplay.com without having to register. You can directly link to
topics,
posts,
profiles, and
events in emails, chats, blogs, and other forums without requiring your readers to register.
The result is free flow of information. The community becomes more inclusive, the conversations attract new people with fresh ideas, cliquism is discouraged, and your ideas get the open audience they deserve.
Bottom line: open, accessible systems enable open, accessible communities. :)

Ah, so the only difference is the technical side but most of the data here are copied from FC din? So what's the use? IMO, it's just an mirror image.

It's not about one-way data. It's about open conversation.
Closed systems create closed communities. PinoyCosplay.com's open system attracts new
proposals and
ideas that would have difficulty penetrating a closed community. :)

I'm glad you have a sense for that openness, steel_angel. To maintain quality of service for all members and readers, all user-generated content hosted on the service must be associated with a free member account. :)
You're right; I've liberated public information useful to cosplayers from other inaccessible, required-registration services. On one such service, only 864 people can see that information.
Filipino cosplayers deserve better than to have their ideas thrown around tiny cliques.
