summary/overview of the manga:
Beyond our world exists one that is home to the Shinigami who are "Gods of Death". Each Shinigami possess a powerful "Death Note", books which can kill any person by the owner simply by focusing on what the target looks like and writing their name down inside. This story is about a Shinigami who left his Death Note on Earth, with instructions on it's use, and the human who found it, Raito. Raito plans on using the Death Note to turn the Earth into a paradise by executing criminals through the Death Note.

Death Note follows the story of a boy who discovers a means to easily kill people and his desire to use this power to rid the world of evil, creating a "better world" of his choosing. This boy, called "Kira" by the rest of the world, meets his match in an equally brilliant and mysterious figure, called "L," who makes it his mission to discover the identity of Kira and punish him for his crimes. The story weaves itself around the manipulations of both of these characters as each tries to finish ahead of the other in a struggle between the preservation of humanity as it is and the creation of a new humanity controlled by Kira.

though I said before that I don't like how the casting goes... I'll wait till the movie's out since it's WB Japan..... I might eat what I said if I rant too much =P

but since I can't keep silent about ranting... I wanna say that I don't want Tatsuya Fujiwara as Raito... the first one that pops up on my mind is Shige (Shigeaki Kato -NEWS) XDD and as for L... Matsuyama (also Aya's crush in 1 Litre of Tears) is really off to be L..... and i vote Ryuutarou Arimoura (Plastic Tree) as L! He looks and kind of thinks and acts like L! though I don't know about Ryuutarou if he can act :wacko:

One thing's for sure.. I'm gonna raid RFC (LP) soon to search for Death Note VCD/DVD XDD *rummages and hopes to find more japanese titles* PM nyo ko kung may copy na kayo ha :D :ph43r:

I've been waiting for this movie ever since I finished reading the Manga.
When I saw the trailer, I was surprised to see that Tatsuya Fujiwara a.k.a. Nanahara Shuya of Battle Royale will play as Raito Yagami.

If you ask me, Raito should've been Shun Oguri and L should've been played by Jun Matsumoto. (just my opinion though..Shuya is too short to be Raito, don't you think?)

:ph43r: I stopped reading after L died X___x;; hanggang ch62 lang binasa ko and to think isa ako sa mga avid FIRST readers nito.... nung first time nilabas to sa zasshi (phonebook sized mangas), na'basa' namin yon don then eventually we looked it up on the net.. everymonth, we really wait for the scanlations of it ^__^v


pero when the news came out that they'll start shooting and the final casting is out... I can't help but rejoice about it! Though para sakin, mas maganda parin kung si Ryuutarou Arimoura (Plasctic Tree) si L (he even cosplayed as L and he looked darn good! XD) and Shigeaki Kato (NewS) as Raito (man, he can be a good guy and can be a mad man in just a snap! Like the real Raito <3 and yeah.. he'll work w/ Chiaki Kuriyama w/ their new drama that was originally a novel <3 GAMBATTE SHIGE-KUN~! *wiggles pom-poms*)

but after watching the trailer.... I can't help but eat part of my rantigs....

nice deductions ^_^ we really can't help but compare the Raito we know (and oter DN charas) and who can be casted as DN charas
